What is Displacement Map?
Displacement Map is an image-based technique for creating 3D surface details. By displacing the position of pixels in an image according to the intensity of a grayscale Displacement Map, new depth information can be generated.
Displacement Maps are commonly used in 3D visualization to add detailed surface features to models. In addition to adding visual interest, Displacement Maps can also be used to simulate physical effects such as water ripples or soft cloth. When used correctly, Displacement Maps can greatly enhance the realism of a 3D scene.
