What is Render Pass?

In 3D computer graphics, a render pass is an image that results from the rendering of a scene with a given set of parameters. A render pass usually contains all the information necessary to produce a final image, including lighting, shading, and post-processing effects. In some cases, multiple render passes may be necessary to create a single final image. For example, one render pass might be used to generate shadows, while another might be used to generate reflections.

Render passes are often used in motion graphics and visual effects workflows. By breaking an image down into separate render passes, artists and designers can more easily tweak and fine-tune individual elements of the final image. This allows for greater control over the overall look and feel of the final composition.
