What is MatCap?
MatCap, short for material capture, is a technique used in 3D computer graphics to give materials a realistic appearance. It involves capturing the reflection of light off of a surface and then applying that captured image onto the 3D model. This results in a more realistic looking render, as the material appears to interact with the light in the same way as it would in real life.
MatCap can be used for any type of material, including metals, glass, plastics, and even skin. It is often used in conjunction with other techniques, such as bump mapping and environment mapping, to create even more realistic looking materials. MatCap is a powerful tool that can really bring your 3D models to life.
